Hello everyone! Today we are focusing on our cognitive development, balance, and hand-eye coordination through the game of hopscotch! I will show you how to create a hopscotch, show you different styles and the different things you can do with a hopscotch (head over to seesaw to watch) Please get creative and share your wonderful ideas with me! JK's: Jump on two feet, then try one foot. SK's: Jump on two feet, try one foot, try switching between both feet and only one! Grade 1's: Jump on two feet, try one foot for both feet, throw an object and hop to where it landed. Grade 2's: Two feet, one foot for both feet, try criss-crossing your feet, try doing a frog jump where your hands touch the ground when you hop. Grade 3’s: Try missing squares, going backwards, or get your hands involved by touching certain squares with your hands. Learning Goals: We are learning how to create and play hopscotch. We are learning how to balance on one or two feet. We are learning how to hop from space to space. Success Criteria: I can be creative with the materials I use to create a hopscotch. I can jump from two feet onto one, or one foot onto two.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! Here is today's music lesson. You are welcome to send me photos of your music notes made from food to amcmillan@stjudesacademy.com

2. Have fun singing songs about food with the following link! You may use your homemade instrument to keep the beat! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_JQwhPKzdI
3. Once you have enjoyed singing and dancing to the songs you may have fun making music notes with food that you have on hand at home! Look for food that has circles (ex. Grapes) and long lines (a carrot stick). Quarter notes have a circle (a grape) with a stem coming out the right side (a carrot stick). Take a picture of your music notes. Have fun😊 Then you may eat your music notes for snack time!

Gym - PE with Ms. V!

Hello everyone!

Today Ms. V has something very special for you to do for PE! I have created my very own workout video on YouTube for all of you to follow along with. Make sure you have your water bottle, maybe a yoga mat or blanket to kneel on for certain exercises. You can repeat this workout as many times as you'd like, but make sure you drink lots of water to replenish your body!

We will be working on our cardio, leg muscles, arm muscles and our core (tummy) muscles.
Are you ready!?!?
https://youtu.be/jaGPih5WR0M

French -
Students will review the spring vocabulary from my previous video.

They will complete the following vocabulary work sheet. Please click on the link below:

After completing the activity, students can watch and learn this very simple French song called "Il pleut", which is related to our spring theme.

Recess/Lunch

UOI - today we are going to learn all about our next community helper: hair stylist!

1. Students will watch Ms. Bannon's video about pretending to be a hair stylist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhH7nncuijo

2. Students will then role play being a hair stylist themselves using the following chart: https://www.happylearnersresources.com/images/resources/RP-Hairdressers-App.pdf.
Students can use mom or dad (if they're available and willing:) or your brother or sister and pretend to either style or cut their hair!

3. Finally, students will complete this sentence on a piece of paper or journal: It was fun to be a hair stylist because __________, and then draw a picture!

Music - Ms. McMillan

I loved seeing the pictures of the musical instruments that you made at home!  Today for music class we will begin by:

1. Clapping Food Rhythms.  For example, clap "ta, ta" and say "Ice cream" and clap,"ta, titi" and say "hamburger." The last row of rhythms clap "tika tika ti ti" and say "pepperoni pizza". Next class I will send you a video where you can watch me clap these rhythms and you can clap with me!
2. Practice singing along to your favourite "Frozen 2" songs or "Disney" songs, or a song of your choice with the new instrument that you made.  Have fun keeping in time to the music.
3. With chalk go outside and draw some of the following rhythms on the sidewalk or driveway.  Have fun! If you do not have chalk you can practice drawing your rhythms on paper with crayon or marker, or make your music notes with playdough.

Next music class you will be able to sing along to my you tube video for you to sing some of your favorite songs with me at home!
