First I wanted to wish
Shanmukh a very happy birthday!!!!
The students started their day in art with Mrs. Kerr. Then after snack and washroom we sang happy birthday to Shanmukh and did our calendar.
Language- we sang along to the letter E song and after coming up with words that began with that letter students completed their letter E page in their ABC journals.
Math - students were given cut up pieces of fruit and had to glue the correct ones under the appropriate headings, then we discussed it as a class
Daily Five - Read to self, Word Work (students used bingo daubers to find Ee), Work on Writing (students traced then drew a picture about their favourite treats), Listen To Reading (Froggy Goes To Hawaii)
After french with Mlle. Hou we enjoyed some treats for Shanmukh's birthday! (The kids promised me they would eat their whole dinner! :)
Just a couple of housekeeping items:
1. Tomorrow is Terry Fox Run and Casual Day, so please keep in mind something comfortable they can run in
2. A note on behalf of the vice principal, Ms. Nelson:
Good afternoon SJA Parents,
Birthdays are a wonderful and exciting time for every child. We are happy to have your child recognize and celebrate
this special day with their classmates at SJA. But in celebrating your child's birthdays we do ask for the policies on
birthday celebrations be recognized and followed.
SJA Birthday Celebration Policy
- Families may choose to send an item in to the school to be used to celebrate their child's birthday
- We request that food items are not sent to school to celebrate a birthday during the school day (e.g cake, cupcakes, cookies, etc.). This is due to the communal area that food and snacks are consumed, and based on the school's anaphylactic policy.
Some suggestions of ways to celebrate (if you choose to do so)...
- Send a 'loot bag' to celebrate your child's birthday. We are happy to send that home with their classmates to be opened at home.
- Purchase a book from your local book store that your child can bring with them on their birthday. This book could be purchased for your child's class and be the Birthday Book that is read in their honour instead of purchasing a food item. It would remain at the school in the SJA library with your child's name forever inscribed.
- Contact the school to rent the multi-purpose room at the end of the school day for a birthday party to be held at the school.
We thank you for your help in maintaining a safe and healthy school and for abiding by the 'no food items' policy for students' birthdays.
