Students started their morning with Reading Buddies!
Language - reviewed the name, sound, and action for the letter Ii. Then they completed the page in their phonics journal to practice writing upper and lower case Ii and the word 'is'. Then they chose a word from the board we brainstormed from and drew a picture of it.

Recess/Lunch 1
Math - today students learned the term estimate. After asking them what they thought it meant I explained that it means to guess. We discussed how it helps when you have a large quantity of something and you need to figure out roughly how much you have instead of counting the items one by one. We practiced together as a class first using manipulatives then they went back to their desks to complete 2 pages in their Math Makes Sense workbook.
UOI - this week we will be talking and learning about plants! Today they completed a KWL chart as a class (we will fill in the last column on Friday), then watched a video called Parts of a Plant, which they really enjoyed singing along to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ql6OL7_qFgU. Then they got to look at a real flower and examine the 3 main parts. Finally they completed a worksheet by labelling the parts of a plant.

Then they watched a story being read online and it was time to go home!
