Language - students worked on the blend sound 'ur' and brainstormed words on the whiteboard. Then they completed a page in their phonics journal and if they were done early used playdough to make 'ur' words or completed a wordsearch.

Math - today students learned about place value. First they were shown a number of buttons on a tray and they had to estimate how many they thought were on it. Then they gave their answer and we wrote down on the whiteboard if there was more than 50, exactly 50 or less than 50. After I grouped the buttons into one set of 10 to give them an idea of how many 10 was and asked them to look at the tray again and the set of 10 to see if their answer would change. Some did, some didn't. Then we grouped all of the buttons into 10 and counted. When we could no longer put them into a full group of 10 we called those ones left over and eventually they will be learning those are 1's. Then they completed page 232 in their Math Makes Sense book.
UOI - today we learned about the community helper farmer! First we did a mind map on the board then we watched a video. Afterwards students made a barn craft. Then we learned a community helpers poem.
Recess/Lunch 2
Journal - students wrote what the definition of a community and community helper was.
Music - Ms. McMillan
Then students completed a community helpers page where they wrote down what community helper they would want to be and drew a picture of it.
Then it was time to pack up and head home!
