Mr. Foster’s Farmers Market and Ms. Gandy’s Groceries
As part of their summative assessment the grade one classes have decided to open a market to complement their organization unit. The market will include fruits, vegetables, drinks and other healthy snacks. It will be held in rooms 12 and 18. The market will take place all day Thursday, January 23rd and Friday, January 24th. All profits made will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

Calendar - days of the week, months of the year, season, weather, counting to the 100th day of school and a story
Language - students learned about the blend sound: "ch". Then we came up with words on the whiteboard and completed a page in their phonics journal.
Math - first students solved subtraction stories as a class on their whiteboards then they came up with their own equations and had a friend solve them. Finally we did an activity where they had to build a tower of 10 blocks and after they rolled a dice, took off the correlating number of blocks. Whoever had the smallest amount left by the end of a minute, won!

UOI - students talked about the season of winter and the changes associated with it. Then we wrote down 2 sentences in their journal that talked about the changes we discussed.

Then it was time to pack up and head home!
